“Why Be a Role Model for Your Team and Tell Stories”
I know a man who lives on a farm in Oregon. He had a flock of 30 domestic geese who never learned to fly. Within the comfort of the farm, they just grew fat and happy.
One dark stormy night, he found a lone goose standing in the driveway. This lone goose would be easy prey for a hungry coyote. So he put it in the barn.
Next morning, he opened the farm barn doors for his geese flock to come out. They waddled out, lazy and overstuffed. Suddenly, a sleek, light goose rocketed into the air! The man realized he had saved, not one of his own geese, but a wild Canada goose.
All 30 of his flock watched, heads cocked, this amazing sight of a fellow goose soaring high into the wild blue yonder!
These geese had normally spent their time in the safety of the barnyard. But NOW they hiked up to the highest point of the pasture, where they ran down the slope, flapping their wings and squawking!
A few lifted off the ground. After only a glimpse of what was possible, they persisted. In time, many got stronger, and glided higher and farther! They flew whenever they could, to celebrate and enjoy their newfound freedom.
These geese always had the potential to fly. Yet, until they saw what was possible, they stayed on the ground!
This is the power of seeing some one among us soar. We remember who and what we are! Place the image of the soaring ones before your team constantly by telling lots of success stories. And soar in your own unique way too! Enjoy!
