My Mother Could Sell Ice Cubes to Eskimos

I was talking with a friend the other day. He said, “I was raised learning to sell. My mother could sell anything. She would take me with her as she traveled to small towns and sold rosaries.”

“One town we came to had just purchased $1,000 of rosaries before we came along! This would have discouraged anyone but my mother. The first thing the pastor said was, ‘We cannot buy any more rosaries.’ ”

I asked my friend, “What was the first thing your mother said after he said that to her?”

” ‘You don’t need to buy anything. It costs you nothing to look. I’m not selling anything.’ “, he said. “By the time we left town, that church had purchased $3,000 more rosaries!”

I love this story.

What can you learn from it that you will apply in your network marketing business?

I learned to not be discouraged. The need may still be there. I also learned that just offering to help or show takes away people’s defense when they learn that you are truly OK with whatever they decide.
